Opening a travel agent in Dromana, VIC: Market & Competitor Analysis (2026)

Dromana has 12 travel agents operating currently, a high concentration for a town of 13,366 people. In practice that means the market looks crowded on paper, but Effective Density sits at just 28 out of 100 — much of that competition is weak or tangential rather than genuinely strong full-service rivals.

Dromana scores 38 out of 100 on the Strategique Score, rated Moderate — neither a strong opportunity nor a dead market. Market Opportunity sits at 53/100, backed by solid local income, but 12 existing operators mean success depends on a clear niche rather than a generalist offer.

Competitor Strength sits at 44/100, an average field. The strongest names are Mornington Peninsula Visitor Information Centre (4.6 stars, 218 reviews) and Dromana Beach Getaway (4.7 stars, 73 reviews), followed by Mornington Peninsula Rentals (4 stars, 51 reviews) — none a dedicated full-service travel agency.

Weekly household income of $1,398 and unemployment of 3.4 per cent point to solid disposable income across the area's 13,366 residents. Treat this pricing or positioning recommendation as a hypothesis to test, not proof of premium pricing, profit, margins or guaranteed market share. Household income is context, not actual customer spending or willingness to pay.

Start by picking a niche the top three local players don't cover, such as cruises, luxury escapes or peninsula tour packages, since none are dedicated agencies. Check review gaps against Dromana Beach Getaway (4.7 stars) and the Visitor Centre (4.6 stars), and price services toward the area's above-average household income rather than budget bookings.
