What this means for a pet groomers business in Surry Hills
Weekly household income of $2,308 in Surry Hills sits well above the Sydney average, and for pet groomers that. Treat this pricing or positioning recommendation as a hypothesis to test, not proof of premium pricing, profit, margins or guaranteed market share. Household income is context, not actual customer spending or willingness to pay. Residents here are more likely to treat grooming as a recurring lifestyle expense than a one-off necessity, which supports subscription packages, breed-specific styling and add-on services like teeth cleaning or de-shedding treatments. Unemployment under five per cent points to stable, not seasonal, demand. Operators who price toward the lower end are likely leaving margin on the table rather than winning volume.
Household income is demographic context, not actual customer spending or willingness to pay.

How strong is the competition from existing pet groomers in Surry Hills?
The two incumbents are moderately strong but not overwhelming. Dogs @ Play leads with 4.7 stars across 190 reviews, suggesting high customer satisfaction and market visibility.
